I Heart Faces Book

Yesterday morning I received the most delightful email.  A little bit ago I told you all about a photography contest that I had entered on a whim.  Much to my surprise my photo was one of the ones chosen to be a part of I Heart Faces new photo book.  It has been a long wait but the book is finally done! 

I am so thrilled to have been able to be apart of this.  To have one of my photos published is a huge thrill.  You can preview the book hereat Blurb.  My pic is on the top left of page 60.

Ode To Fall

Oh autumn, how do I love thee?  Let me count the ways(or the things;)).

~Cider Mills filled with laughing children, warm cinnamon donuts and ice cold cider.

~Long drives down winding roads covered in an canopy of golden hued foliage.

~Piping hot cups of pumpkin spice latte from Starbuck's.

~Delighted kids jumping and resting on piles of red, yellow and orange leaves.

~Freshly baked pies that fill the house with a warm and smell that a candle never could.

~Filling tummies with homemade applesauce made from apples that they picked.

~Dressing up as our favorite things to entice the neighbors to give treats and goodies.

~Tall boots and cozy sweaters.  Fuzzy scarves and stylish hats.

~The anticipation of the magic that Christmastime brings.

What Can I Say....

Do you ever just get into a mood?  I have definitely been in one lately that has kept me from greeting you all here on my blog like I know that I should.  There has just been a ton going on and I seem to have lost my blogging mojo.  I can't guarantee that it is going to come back quickly but I do hope that it will come back soon.  I just don't feel like I've really had anything to say as of late...  I am currently dealing with some back and shoulder pain and I can't help but wonder if it is partly responsible for my aforementioned mood.  I don't know.  I am hoping to get it fixed up soon so I hope that the light happy me will be back too.  I do apologize for not having some beautifully written, inspiring or hilarious post for you but I just thought that perhaps I should let the 2 readers that I have left know that I am still around;)  Until next time...

 

Almost Instant Gratification

Autumn Delights

Visiting cider mills, strolling through pumpkin patches and picking bushels of apples are some of the activities that make autumn my favorite season.  This weekend I got a chance to spend some much needed time with my sweet little family of 5.  We visited Westview Orchards on Sunday and had a wonderful, cold day of merriment.  These are some of those moments that I was talking about last post and I will cherish them always.

  

Moments

This past weekend one of my fellow Clickin' Moms lived through every parents worst nightmare.  Her 4 year old son Nathan passed away from complications from the H1N1 flu virus.  I can't begin to describe the feeling  in my stomach when I heard the news and the heartache I feel for his entire family.  They are in my prayers every single day and I know that if they lean on the Lord now in this dark time they will one day again see the sun.  When someone loses a child it always reminds us to cherish each moment that we have with our loved ones but I want to remember that lesson all of the time, not just when tragedy strikes.  I am going to try to remember to be more patient, play more with my kids, hold them a little longer, listen more intently and just drink in every single second that I am blessed with their presence.  It can be gone in the blink of an eye.

Yesterday was Nathan's funeral and since all of us on the board are scattered throughout the world we decided to show our support and love by releasing yellow balloons for Nathan.  We will be collecting all of the pictures and putting them into a book for his mother to show her how much we all care.  It was rainy and extremely windy here yesterday so the photos aren't great but I don't really think that was the point.  It was about the moment.  After all, life is all about the moments.

Manic Monday

Another week begins and another to-do list a mile long looms in front of me.  I have been caught up in a flurry of activity since school started and I am hoping to soon hit my stride with it all.  Last week was a comedy of errors that I am hoping to not repeat.  We started the week with all 3 kids sick and at home, Tuesday Thing 1 returned to school while Thing 2 stayed home with a low grade fever.  Now, does it make sense to you to have a kid home sick that does not act sick at all?  Shouldn't sick children lie around fatigued and quiet?  that's what I thought but that is not what I got.  Wednesday, Thing 2 goes back to school and promptly runs into a tree causing the office ladies to call me in to decide whether his scrapped up eye needs medical attention.  Luckily the scrapes and cuts were all around his eye and not inside so no doctor appointment was needed.  Never the less, home he came.  We successfully got through Thursday and Friday so I thought that I would treat the kids with a trip to a little cider mill after school for a cup of cider and a donut.  Wouldn't you know, that was a bad idea.  As we sat enjoying our treat baby girl flipped over the top of her chair onto the stone patio and put her tooth through her lip.  Our week wrapped up with a trip to urgent care where we were assured that she would be okay.  I am exhausted all over again just reliving all of that here for you all.  Whew!

I am praying for a much calmer week this week and the opportunity to get back to work.  I have new designs to roll out for a mother/daughter event later in the month and some practice time with my trusty camera.  Wish me luck!
